Diabetes Diet and Lifestyle Clinic, November 6th

There are two types of diabetes, but the most common is Type 2. The way it works is that your pancreas releases insulin in your body, which moves glucose (blood sugar) into your cells so you can produce energy. Type 2 diabetics have a resistance to insulin. Their cells keep demanding insulin, so their pancreas keeps making more. People with type 2 diabetes not only have too much insulin in the bloodstream, they have also developed high levels of blood sugar, a condition known as hyperglycemia.

Most people diagnosed with diabetes are overweight, but it is possible for thin people to develop the disease.
If you are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, it's good to know that with proper attention and care, you can live a long and active life. Diabates can be man aged. It's important to monitor your blood sugar level regularly.
